A lot of people have questions about just what is going on at a cowboy church. I would say that just as each cowboy is an individual, so is every cowboy church. At least that's what I've experienced in visiting numerous other cowboy churches.
In a nutshell I will say that a cowboy church is laying aside all of the "churchy" aspects of what many people have come to expect in a church. We enjoy a much more relaxed and real gathering when we get together. Yes, there may be horse trailers in the parking lot, and yes there's coffee, and yes you may see someone still wearing their spurs from a morning ride. But what I've experienced is being welcomed as a guest the first time I entered, to being treated like family from there on. The fellowship at our church is a real blessing and is at the heart of what makes this body of believers so special.
I believe that when it's time to open our Bibles and get into God's Word things get real. That is the real measure of any church. It is important to take time, explain, and understand. We have Sunday School for children and adults, and we also have small group Bible studies that meet on a seasonal basis. Making sure that we are all growing in the knowledge of God's Word is the most important part of this church. We love our cowboy ways, and the horses are a huge plus, but God is always first and foremost.
If you've never experienced a cowboy church, we'd love to have you stop in and give us a try. And if you have been to a cowboy church you may have a leg up on the experience, but we still feel like our church is a special place and a special experience. We'd love to meet you and help you grow closer to the Lord. That's our first priority as believers, the rest is just a blessing from God.
