Howdy Pardners,

Well, we know that, “The Last Jedi”, the new Star Wars movie, came out Friday evening, and perhaps some of you went and joined the crowds to see it.  I have heard that it is a pretty good movie, with a lot of action and we will likely eventually go see it too.

But a smaller number of us went to the Cowboy Church last night to see a movie that is not so new.  In fact, this movie was released in 1946.  It was the movie that has become a Christmas tradition for folks to see every year at this time.  The movie we saw was, “It’s a Wonderful Life” with Jimmy Stewart, Donna Reed and Lionel Barrymore.  No matter how many times we see this great old movie, it always seems fresh and new and brings that warm and fuzzy feeling to your heart. It did for all of us at the Cowboy Church last night.

The message of the movie is this, “Each person’s life can make a big difference in the life of many others – and  hopefully for the good!” May I say, each of you that MaryAnn and I know and love have enriched our lives and made our trail ride through this life an exciting and fulfilling adventure.  Please know that each of you matter very much to us!

Now, here is the:

 “Church Calendar at a Glance”:

Sunday Dec 17th and Monday Dec 18th – the Lord’s Supper will be served at our Cowboy Church Services.  Since we have not had our “Impromptu Theater Actors” show up for quite a while at the Cowboy Church, we are expecting to see them at these two services sharing a bit of Christmas cheer.  Come and enjoy another saga from the lives of cowboys Dusty and Roy in this fun Cowboy/Christmas skit!

Sunday Dec 24th – 6:30 PM Christmas Eve Candlelight Service at the Cowboy Church with a fellowship time with finger foods and Christmas desserts, (Regular cowboy church services will also be held at the usual times on Sunday the 24th and Monday (Christmas Day) the 25th – we hope you can make it! (# Special Note – let’s just have cookies, candy, or desserts and finger foods Monday evening, Christmas Day, since most of you will already have been cooking that day for your family Christmas gatherings.)

Finally, one of our long-time Gateway to the High Country Cowboy Church members went home to be with the Lord this past Thursday evening. Joe Apel, of Clark, Missouri, had been battling health issues for about 4 years. This past week the battle ended for Joe.  Joe was 66 years.  He is the father of Matt Apel, of our Cowboy Church, as well as Becky Connolly and Debbie Bargar.  He also had six grandchildren. Joe’s funeral will be this coming Wednesday, December 20th at the Million -Taylor Funeral Home at 320 S. Williams St. in Moberly, Missouri. The visitation will be that day beginning at 11 am and the funeral service will be at 1 pm. The burial will follow the service and be in the Sunset Hill Cemetery in Madison, Missouri.  Please keep Matt and the family in your prayers.

God Bless All and Happy Trails to You,
