Howdy Friends,

Just letting everyone know; there will NOT be a Construction Workday at the Cowboy Church this Saturday. We will let you know when we will have the next one! Thanks to Jane Craig, Shirley Hendricks, Sharon Himmelberg, and Beth Davis for cleaning the church building.

We have some very sad news for those who were with our Cowboy Church in our first three years as a new church. The Gateway to the High Country Cowboy Church Family is mourning the passing of Kyle Garrett on October 17, 2018. Kyle was the lead guitarist of the Ten Gallon Hat Cowboy Band. This great group of musicians helped us launch this new Cowboy Church on Monday nights in 2011. They faithfully played and sang for us every Monday night for 3 years. Kyle was a vital part of this great band and was a sweet Christian with a wonderful gift from God. We will greatly miss him and we pray for his family. He also was, for many years, a great musician for the Praise Band on Sunday mornings at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church His visitation will be on Monday morning, October 22nd at 10 to 11 am at the Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church, 21479 Mt. Pleasant Road, Hartsburg, MO 65039 (The church is not actually in Hartsburg, but is next to the Eagle Knoll Golf Course just off Hwy 63, north of Jefferson City, and south of Ashland, MO). The service will be at 11 am that same day and then a dinner will follow, all at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church.

Wednesday night, Oct 17th, was the fourth meeting of the Ladies’ Study entitled, “She Did What She Could” based on the story of Mary anointing Jesus’ head with perfume to prepare Him for burial. Eleven ladies attended the study and discussion time Wednesday. The meetings will go for another 3 Wednesdays (excluding Halloween). Any lady is invited to join in with these ladies this next Wednesday from 6:30 to 8:00 pm at the Cowboy Church. A few books are still available.

THE COWBOY CHURCH CALENDAR:

Ladies’ Study – Wednesday, Oct 24th, 6:30 to 8:00pm.

Movie Night – Friday, October 26, 2018, 7:00pm. Dave and Sue Binney are the Point Riders for this monthly activity. This month’s movie will be “Old Yeller”.

Chrome, Christ, and Cowboys Motorcycle Ride and Rally – We are having an 85 mile motorcycle ride and rally on October 27th beginning at 8 am with breakfast at Liberty Baptist Church in Columbia, Missouri, riding out at 9 am. The motorcycle ride will end at 11am to 12 noon at the Gateway to the High Country Cowboy Church, with lunch, a devotional message, and prize giveaways. The ride will take approximately two hours, with a midway break along the route. Gary Hood and I are leading in the planning of this fun event. Spread the word to everyone that owns an “Iron Horse” (Motorcycle)and invite them to join us for this ride and rally, to the glory of God! If you donate a prize for the giveaway, please make it something that can fit in a motorcycle saddle-bag!

Marcie Johnson and Barb Spencer, our Monday night Children’s Cow Town teachers, are planning a “Fun Buckaroo Fall Festival” for children on Sunday, October 28th at about noon and right after the church service Sunday morning. (The Service is from 11 am to noon.) There will be another Buckaroo Fall Festival on Monday evening, Oct 29th, from 6 to 7 pm, which is the hour proceeding (The Potluck Dinner will be before the service that night!) and our Monday Cowboy Church service. There will be fun, games, and prizes for the kids. We will need lots of volunteers to help with the games! Let Barb and Marcie know if you can help! Weather permitting, we will also have stagecoach and horse drawn wagon rides for kids and parents.

ON SATURDAY NOV. 17th there are TWO EVENTS you will want to take note of:

We are planning on hosting at the Cowboy Church building, the Annual Clark, Missouri Community Thanksgiving Dinner. We will be doing this in conjunction with the other churches in the Clark Community. The cooked Thanksgiving Turkeys and some side dishes will be provided by folks from the other churches. Besides hosting the dinner in our building, we will also be asking our church family to bring some side dishes also to share at the dinner with those who attend. Perhaps as many as 80 people could attend. Times for this dinner on that day will be shared as soon as we know them.

Another Event on that same day will be a Chili Supper and Benefit Auction for David and Brenda Reed of Higbee, MO. This event will take place in the Cooper’s Oak Winery in Higbee, MO, The Chili Supper will begin at 11 am that Saturday, Nov 17th, and the auction will begin at 1 pm. For more information, to help with the supper, or to donate an item for the auction, you may contact Robert Phillips at 660-651-2227 or Alex White at 660-414-7068. This event is to help with David’s medical bills after his recent tractor accident and hospitalization. (David and Brenda Reed are the organizers of the annual “Saddle-Up for St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital Trail Ride and Benefit Auction” which has raised over a quarter of a million dollars for the Children of St. Jude.) They are such good people and they have given to everyone and anyone who is in need. We want to see if we can help them now!

Obviously we will have to coordinate our Cowboy Church members that day so that we can participate in both of these worthy events as best we can.

We hope to see you for worship at the Cowboy Church, Sundays at 11 am and Mondays at 7 pm. We have been having great attendance at both services as we glorify our God at each of our gatherings.

God Bless You All and Happy Trails,

Pastor Dale and MaryAnn Larison c}:-{ Website www.gtthccc.com
